Hi,
we are a bicycle and component manufacturer from Germany.
We have a product in our product line called “The Plug” which allows to charge devices such as smart phones etc from a bicycle dynamo hub, which is fantastic for GPS navigation on a bike. See the link below for details: label.obscured.placeholder
As the dynamo (generator) hub can only produce so much power as you ride along most devices do not charge below 17km/h (10mi/h), as they require more power than the cyclist can produce at the speed below.
Therefore we have the following request. Is it generally possible to develop an app (for iphone, android, windowsphone) that limits the charging power and sets a state like “slow charging” or similar, with eg. consuming only 100mA @ the given 5V USB spec?

It does not seem possible to know by software. it's only possible to determine whether a cell phone is charging, the percentage of charge, if it is attached to a USB socket, the battery temperature and its voltage, given this information, the thing you can do is warn that the battery is charged / discharged, or that is too hot, or that it is charging or not, but you can not define how much you can charge, however you can stop the charging and starting it up. let me know if you're interested in that type of application. i can implement it. regards.
